A few weekends ago, we celebrated Jackson’s 5th birthday by having a party with friends at “My Gym”. Jackson never meets a stranger and wanted to invite everyone he came in contact with over the past year, but we did manage to keep it under control. Of course, we had a baseball theme party complete with a baseball cake and party favors that included peanuts and cracker jacks. On his actual birthday, August 4th, we celebrated by taking our boys to the Barnum and Bailey Circus, which we all really enjoyed.
This past year, Jackson went to Pre-K4 at Prestonwood’s Christian Learning Center. He learned so much and really formed some sweet friendships. He also took part in our church’s Children’s Choir and was in Cubbies with our Awanas program. He completed his first full year of swim lessons where he learned to swim laps (front stroke, back stroke, and chest stroke). His proudest moment in swimming was learning to dive!
Jackson’s love for baseball continued to grow this year. After playing tee-ball at 4, he fell in love with the sport. When I say love, I really mean obsessed. Before coming downstairs in the morning, he is usually dressed in his baseball uniform and asking by 7:30AM to go outside and hit. Jackson was able to play on the “coach-pitch” team this year and was such a little slugger! He really hated to see the season end but it looks like his love is not going to fade from season to season!
Jackson is such an affectionate and friendly little man. He is very outgoing and makes friends easily. Although he still has his moments, he has grown in so many ways over the past year. Since Jackson has a late summer birthday, he will go to PreK-5 this upcoming year before starting Kindergarten in the fall of 2011. I still thank God every day for giving me this little guy. He is more special than I ever anticipated and more than I ever deserve. Happy 5th Birthday, Jackson! You light up my world!.
